When the Plans Don’t Fit: We Adapt and Provide Solutions to Keep Projects on Track
No matter how detailed the drawings, construction doesn’t always go according to plan. Measurements are off. Design elements changes happen mid-build. And sometimes, the sports equipment gets overlooked entirely until late in the process.
That’s where we come in.
At Gymleader, we’re not just suppliers or manufacturers, we’re problem-solvers. Our role often begins when issues come to light during construction, and the pressure is on to find a practical fix that doesn’t derail the timeline or budget.
Fixing What the Plans Miss
It’s not uncommon for us to be brought in after a slab is poured, only to find the thickenings for pole sports haven’t been included, or that the ceiling height doesn’t allow for a standard setup. We’ve seen it all, from missing socket provisions to structural deflection that throws curtain alignment out by just enough to matter.
While we work closely with architects in the design phase, the reality is that most of our hands-on problem-solving happens alongside construction teams. We check measurements on-site, flag potential issues early, and customise our equipment to match real-world conditions, not just what’s on paper.
Custom-Built to Keep Things Moving
Most of our equipment, especially internal basketball systems, are built to order. That’s not just a selling point; it’s often a necessity. Every building is different, and if the structure shifts or specs change during the build, off-the-shelf won’t cut it.
Take the Wanaka Recreation Centre, for example. The project involved converting an old Mitre 10 building into a multi-sport facility. Low ceilings and an existing steel frame posed serious challenges, but with detailed measurements and close collaboration with the engineers, we were able to retrofit ceiling-hung equipment that delivered full functionality without compromising safety or performance.
Or the Pedigrew Arena, a six-court complex where weather delays and unexpected structural joins impacted installation. Working with Apollo Projects, we adapted our scheduling, adjusted installation plans, and delivered on time.
Why Builders Call Us Back
We’re proud to be the team that helps get things over the line, especially when plans don’t match what’s on site. From pre-let meetings to install day, we bring decades of experience, custom manufacturing capabilities, and the flexibility to respond fast when challenges arise.
So if your next build involves a sports facility, gym, or multi-court complex, get us involved early. Because while problems will always crop up, it’s how you deal with them that makes the difference.
